The First Majorettes of Rijeka
The First Majorettes of Rijeka were established in 1995 and are one of the oldest majorette teams in Croatia. They have four different age groups, ranging from 3 to 26 years old, and over 120 members. Their top team is known as the reigning national champions, and it is recognized for a specific majorette style. Their style blends modern music with an expressive dance flair, and advanced baton twirling. Being known as unique representatives of this dance category, they have travelled Europe as proud agents of cultural and creative expression of Rijeka and Croatia. Their noticeable appearances in a number of European festivals are surpassed only by this team’s unique characteristics – namely, some of its members have been active dancers in the company for over 20 years, and the club’s leadership is comprised of old members who stayed and carried on the tradition, but also transforming it by adding novelties that led them to achieving great results in the last couple of years – medals from the European competitions, and double national champion titles.
