The Brass Band was created in Poggio Bustone more than a century ago, in 1890 when it took the name of “Filarmonica Giuseppe Verdi”, directed by M° Giunta. Since then the music of the Band echoed in every alley and village of the city and every feast. The Filarmonica G. Verdi had a long story made of highs and lows. In 1926 the Filarmonica, with only 18 elements, was awarded with the gold medal at an important provincial band festival. Since then many eminent personalities came in succession like M° Francesco Rinaldi, trumpeter Battisti Giovan Battista, Francesco Battisti, Annibale Battisti trumpeter in the Banda dei Carabinieri, and Salvatore Li Puma, maestri who gave a big position to the Band of Poggio Bustone in the city, in the province and region. Later the Band went through a difficult period till 2008 when it was built up again with the name Banda Orchestra Poggio Bustone, directed by M° Moreno Porazzini. He is graduated in trumpet at the Conservatory of L’Aquila, studies as a composer and as a conductor; he is now first soloist baritone horn in the Band of Polizia di Stato. The aim of the actual maestro and director was to transform the band into a real orchestra, and after a few years and thanks to the management, we can say that that aim has been reached, having created a small orchestra composed by non professional musicians and young students at the Conservatory.
