The Orchestra AGH is an organization of the University of Krakow’s “Akademia Gorniczo-Hutniczej Stanislaw Stasic”. Its principal aims are to spread the idea of music, encourage musical interests, artistic creativity and preside at the ceremonies of the University representing and cultivating the traditions of said university.The band was formed in 2001 by a group of students with passion for music. The band received the approval from the University authorities and developed quickly. In 2004 it was acclaimed as Dariusz Bylina won the first competition for professional Directors. Since then the band has continued to grow and its repertoire consists principally of popular music and themes from films but also includes classical music and marches. It performs about 30 concerts per year and performs at all the University events.In 2013 the orchestra won 2nd place in the International Festival of Musical Bands in Giulianova, took the “Fascia d’Oro” twice in the International Festival “Zlota Lçira” in Rybnick(2010-2014) and 1st place in the competition “Bande di Nowy Sacz(2004) and has performed in Bulgaria, Greece, Luxembourg and Hungary
