The Circolo Musicale “San Giacomo” was formed in 1978 but the origins of the original band go back to the early 1900s. Maestro Mario Di Costa, together with several others, reunited the band in 1993 and directed it until 2003. From then the band was conducted by Masters Nunzio Quartillo and Ignazio Macchione until 2010 when Master Salvatore Principato Trosso took over direction of the band and has been leading the band since then.
The band numbers 50 musicians and 30 students and since 1988 a group of Majorettes performs with the band. The Circolo’s repertory contains a number of symphonic and military marches and above all popular music..
The Circolo Musicale has organized various types of concerts and events and has represented their hometown and formed bonds with other associations in many occasions.
On January 4, 2006 the Circolo participated in an audience with Pope Benedict XVI. In 2008 the band performed in the II Raduno Bandistico dei Parchi di Sicilia in Messina. In 2009 the band participated in the XV “Festa della Musica” in Messina.
The Circolo Musicale San Giacomo promotes not only music but all recreational and cultural activities.
