Bellanteband “Primo Riccitelli” was re-formed in 1997 after a long interruption. Since the reformation Maestro Michele Furia has worked to create a modern symphonic band. The band’s 40 members are, for the most part, young musicians from the area surrounding Bellante. Since its beginning the band has received acclaim progressively from the provincial, regional , national and finally international circles.
The band has performed throughout Italy in concerts and exhibitions and has won numerous awards including a first place in a competition for musical bands in the province of Teramo and finalist as one of the best 10 Italian bands in a competition sponsored by ENEL. The band was also chosen to perform during the first general appearance by Pope Benedict XVI. It has also participated in international competitions in Austria and won first place in the 2010 edition of the International Folk Festival in Malta.
