The tradition of band music in Castello Tesino goes back to 1901. The first band was formed in 1903 thanks to Martino Braus who bought the instruments and the first performance was in a competition in Trento which gained the band official status. In 1909 the first Stature was approved by the Imperial authorities in Innsbruck. In 1946 the band was re-formed and its headquarters was transferred to Oratorio. In 1981 it was renamed “Banda Sociale Folkloristiica” and the members began wearing the traditional costumes of Tesino. In 2001 the band celebrated is first 100 years under the guide of Maestro Claudio Dorigato. Since 2003 the band is led by Maestro Ivan Villanoa and the president of the group is Claudio Costa. The band has a grand repertory of “Blasmusik” and because of this, together with the traditional costumes from the Valley of Tesino , the band receives many invitations to participate in national events as representatives of Trentino. It performed in Rome at the “Festa della Musica Popolare” and in Gubbio at the Raduno bandistico nazionale. Recently the band has performed in the “Rassegna Arcadia musica e sapori and at the International Blasmusikertreffen in Wolfsberg, Austria. In 2012 it was invited to the “Traubenfest” in Merano, the only band invited from Trento.
