The “ Associazione Filarmonica Selci “F. Gabbianelli” dates back to 1901 and received its first statute in 1924. Its aim has always been the diffusion and promotion of music not only for the town of Selci Umbro but for the entire community of San Giustino and the Valtiberina. Presently, the president of the association is Lucio Urbanelli and the orchestra is directed by Maestro Mirko Taschini. The orchestra has evolved significantly in the past years participating in many training workshops taught by affirmed directors and musicians.

The orchestra has a vast repertoire and the performances vary according to the event or occasion(religious music, parade music, classical and modern music). The orchestra has participated in exchanges and competitions both in Italy and abroad in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and France, creating a broad network of contacts and friendships. The principal activity of the Philharmonic is concerts, the repertory is young and modern, and the enthusiasm of the members creates the base for the acclaim which the orchestra receives wherever it performs. In 2011 the band received recognition as “Banda di interesse nazionale”.
