The band was formed in 2001 in the school center “Casto Valladares” of San Juan Opico, together with young people from the National Institute in the same town. The goal was to create friendship and brotherhood between the two institutions and little by little all youths from the surround area were included.
The band began playing for civil, religious, cultural and sports events and eventually was invited to compete in competitions, becoming know first on a regional level and then on to a national level. In 2012, the band won a national competition. This recognition permitted them to compete in Guatemala where the band took second place, ahead of many valuable Guatemalan bands.
In Honduras, the band won first prize competing against bands from all parts of Central America, and finally, for five consecutive years they have received special invitations from Costa Rica.
The invitation to participate in the International Festival of Musical Bands is a dream come true for the band.
Their motto is “Once a green beret, always a green beret”.
