Abunda (Svezia)

Etnik 97

A Bunda is a group of samba, founded in Gothenburg (Sweden) in 1984, whose primary purpose is to promote the samba and other aspects of Brazilian culture in Sweden and abroad. In the same year the group Abunda also performed for the first time the Copenhagen carnival.

Group members have different ages and nationalities, but is common in all a great interest toward Brazilian culture.

Their performances offer Brazilian rhythms, colorful dances, feathers, sequins and acrobatics, and for them every opportunity is good to celebrate: street carnivals, lounges, bars, busses and boats: wherever they are able to spread warmth and joy!

Carnival is the most important moment in the life of the group, and it is carefully prepared with lots of activities: in fact the group makes by its own costumes (taking care of the look down to the smallest detail), prepares the choreography and is responsible for preparing the dancers with constant trainings to perform the best in each performance.

Throughout the year the group performs at various festivals and events all over Europe. Abunda is a cultural non-profit organization with over 100 members and it gives each year a certain sum of money for a solidarity project in Brazil.
